Maggiori informazioni

NU'OVO comes from our free-range chickens raised on our farm and fed with goji berries and Moringa Oleifera leaves cultivated in our fields.

This unique diet enriches our eggs with high levels of carotenoids, nutrients with powerful antioxidant effects. For this reason, Nu'ovo is considered a nutraceutical food, a category between food and medicine, providing both nutritional and health benefits.

Research at Federico II University of Naples
For years, we have worked to find the best way to enhance the nutritional value of eggs from laying hens. On our farm, we have been growing goji berries and Moringa Oleifera trees for over a decade, both known for their natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This led to the idea of feeding our hens with a special blend enriched with goji and Moringa Oleifera flours, both produced on our farm. The research, conducted by Prof. Montesano, demonstrated after over a year of study that the carotenoid content in our eggs is between 400% and 800% higher than in conventional eggs.

Research at the University of Perugia
Building on our agronomic decision to focus on goji berries, we began a three-year collaboration with the University of Perugia to identify distinctive characteristics of our goji berries compared to those grown in China. The results, as highlighted in the study, revealed that the levels of zeaxanthin dipalmitate in our goji berries are significantly higher than in Chinese varieties. Zeaxanthin dipalmitate is a carotenoid with potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Expert Opinion: Dr. Sponsiello
Nutrition Science Specialist, European Sport Nutrition Society
In the scientific community, a new term has emerged in recent years: nutraceuticals, a blend of “nutrition” and “pharmaceutical.” This term refers to foods enriched with specific properties to provide health benefits. “Nutraceuticals” describe a nutrient with pharmacological effects, turning food into a powerful tool for health.
Thanks to a brilliant insight, the idea of feeding chickens with a vegetable-rich mix full of beneficial substances was born. These nutrients have documented antioxidant activity, which is significant because oxidative processes can lead to degenerative diseases. By combating oxidation, we can reduce the risk of illness.
By enriching chicken feed, we have produced an egg exceptionally rich in xanthophylls, which retains its flavor and digestibility while providing a high dose of these beneficial substances. This makes a common food like eggs a true ally for health.
When evaluating a nutrient in food, three aspects are critical: taste, digestibility (or bioavailability), and effectiveness. A classic example is the iron in spinach: while present, it is barely absorbed, making it ineffective. In this case, our eggs deliver antioxidants with excellent bioavailability and efficacy, protecting against harmful oxidative stimuli.
Another point about antioxidants is that taking a single antioxidant substance as a “supplement” is less effective than consuming it through food. These are called "pronutrients," components that enhance the effectiveness of a particular substance. This is an example of how humanity has improved a natural product.
