Maggiori informazioni

NU'OVO comes from our chickens that roam the ground on our farm and are fed goji berries and moringa oleifera leaves , grown in our fields.

This particular diet provides our eggs with a high content of carotenoids, nutrients with antioxidant effects. For this reason Nu'ovo is a nutraceutical food , that is, halfway between a food and a drug.

Research at the Federico II University of Naples
For many years, we have been looking for the best way to enrich the egg from the laying hen . Our farm has been growing goji berries and the Moringa Oleifera tree for over a decade, both natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatories. From here, the idea was born to feed the laying hens with a mixture enriched with goji flour and Moringa Oleifera flour, both of our production . The study, led by Prof. Montesano, highlighted, after over a year of work, quantities of carotenoids present in our egg in significantly higher multiples compared to a traditional egg , between 400 and 800 percent more.

Research at the University of Perugia
Following the confirmation of the choice, from an agronomic point of view, on goji berries we started a collaboration with the University of Perugia , which lasted three years, and which was focused on identifying any particular characteristics compared to goji berries produced in China. The results have shown, as can be seen from the study, how the quantity of zeaxanthin dipalmitate is significantly higher in ours compared to the Chinese one . Zeaxanthin dipalmitate is a carotenoid with important antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

In the scientific world, language is evolving rapidly, and a word has been born for several years: nutraceuticals , a fusion of two existing terms, which identifies foods enriched to obtain specific effects. “Nutraceuticals” identifies a nutrient with pharmacological effects , so a nutraceutical is a tool to eat, which has a strong healthy vocation.
A few years ago, thanks to a brilliant intuition, the idea of feeding chickens with a particular mixture of vegetables , very rich in beneficial substances, was born. These particular nutrients have a documented antioxidant activity , which is interesting because oxidation is a possible way through which degenerative diseases are promoted, opposing it is therefore a way to reduce the risk of getting sick .
By enriching the feed intended for chickens, an egg has been obtained that is particularly rich in xanthophylls, which, without losing its flavour and digestibility, provides us with a high dose of these beneficial substances. Here is a common food on all our tables, which becomes a particular ally of health .
When analyzing a nutrient present in a food, you must always consider 3 aspects: pleasantness, digestibility (better known as bioavailability) and effectiveness. A common example is the iron in spinach: it is there, but it is almost not absorbed, so it is useless. In this case we have a good egg, which provides antioxidants with excellent effectiveness and which works to defend us from harmful oxidative stimuli .
Another aspect to consider, in the specific field of antioxidants, is that the intake of a single substance with this quality, as a "supplement" does not work as well as the same substance taken in a food, they are called "pronutrients" or components that favor the effectiveness of a specific substance . This is one of the cases in which man has improved a natural thing.
