Goji Berry Desserts: You’ll Be Surprised!

By now everyone knows: goji berries are the “ fruit of longevity ”, thanks to their famous antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In addition to these, they contain a large amount of other substances that are very useful for our body: vitamins, fiber, mineral salts and antioxidants. So why not make desserts with goji berries?

In this article we will give you 3 different tips on how to use the nutraceutical and fresh goji berries of our company, grown in Calabria in the heart of the Sibari Plain.

Refreshing smoothie with goji berries, mint and bananas 

Fresh goji is extremely versatile and in this recipe we will use it in the simplest and fastest way possible.

In this dessert with goji berries the quantities don't matter, they all depend on your tastes.

Procedure:  

  1. Place a chopped banana, a few mint leaves and a handful of fresh goji berries in a blender or mixer.
  2. Before starting the blender, also add 200ml of milk (try buffalo milk, it's excellent!).
  3. Now turn on the blender until you get a creamy and “soft” drink.
  4. If you want a touch more freshness, add a few ice cubes and blend again.

Vanilla cream with goji berries and quinces

Here is a quick, tasty dessert that is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 300 ml of milk (try buffalo milk)
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 200 ml of liquid cream
  • 40 g of potato starch
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 200 ml of liquid cream

Procedure: 

  1. First, pour the milk, cream and vanilla into a saucepan. Bring to a boil, remove the pod and let cool.
  2. Now in a bowl beat the egg yolks with the sugar. Then add the potato starch and continue mixing until you get a smooth and creamy mixture.
  3. Add the contents of the saucepan to the egg mixture, mix and put everything back on the heat. Cook for 5 minutes on low heat and the cream is ready.
  4. Once cold, put a few spoonfuls of cream in a small glass, and garnish with a few pieces of cooked quince and a handful of fresh goji berries.

Buffalo milk pudding with pears and goji

We also want to offer you an alternative, sweet and delicate for a decidedly special dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 100 g of rice flour
  • 500 g of buffalo milk
  • 70 g of brown sugar
  • 50 g of fresh goji berries
  • 1 pear
  • 1/2 teaspoon agar agar

Procedure:

  1. First pour the milk into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Also add the rice flour and the agar agar (previously diluted in a little milk). Continue to mix the mixture with a whisk to avoid lumps.
  2. Now start adding the sugar too, little by little, until the cream starts to thicken.
  3. Turn off the heat and add the fresh goji berries and a few diced pears.
  4. Now pour the mixture into the molds and leave to cool in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
