After the first (successful) experiments on the cultivation of goji, we decided to also try with Moringa Oleifera, a tree that grows throughout the tropical and equatorial zone . And so we officially brought Moringa to Italy. But before finding out how, let's look at some characteristics of the plant.
Moringa Oleifera, a complete nourishment
In one of our articles we actually talk about the incredible properties of Moringa Oleifera . But the peculiarity of Moringa is that every part of it is edible: roots, flowers, leaves and seeds contain a complete range of proteins (the only case in the plant world), many mineral salts, vitamins and antioxidants. Furthermore, it is a very precocious plant: it germinates in a very short time and as an adult it has two blooms, a characteristic that allows bees to obtain a very sweet honey from it.

Moringa in Italy, some considerations
As we said at the beginning, Moringa grows throughout the tropical and equatorial zone: it is therefore obvious that you love the heat . That's why in our lands, in the heart of the Sibari plain, the plant immediately found itself in the ideal climate.
Moringa adapts very easily to different soils and drought conditions. In Italy, and in Europe, it is known as the “ radish tree ”, as its roots give off a smell very similar to the vegetable.
In areas with moderate frosts it is still possible to grow it outside: the important thing is that they are not long-lasting and protect the roots with a little straw, to prevent them from dying. It can also happen that the external part dies, but often (if the roots have survived) the plant comes back as good as new in spring.
